When creating Sensor Points in the Gateway Controller for a Gateway to monitor local sensor points (typically using SNMP), it has been observed that it can appear as if the data is not updating in CenterScape.

When a Sensor point is first created, and a Gateway is allocated the profile to monitor the point on a device, the first 5 to 10 minutes of data is delayed when reviewing the sensor data in CenterScape. As the Gateway is using the REST API to update the sensor data in CenterScape, the initial data load is delayed.

Assuming there are no reported data errors on the Gateway, or in any log files, the sensor data typically acts like a normal CenterScape wireless sensor after approximately 5 to 10 minutes.

Should the data still not update, please check:

  • the Sensor profile and configuration (IP address, SNMP OID address and data type)
  • small errors in long OID fields are difficult to see - please check the data is visible using an SNMP tool such as Paessler SNMP Tester tool
  • the Oper8 Gateway Controller is operating and can see that the Gateway is "online"
  • log files to ensure the Gateway can connect to the Gateway Controller and to CenterScape
