Issue:

When the CTERA Agent (MS Server 2003 install) attempts to perform a File Level or System Level backup on the server, an error reporting the VSS service (or similar) has failed is presented. The backup process then fails with no files backed up.

Resolution:

A number of incorrect values were updated in the 2003 Registry based on MS technet advice for VSS on Server 2003.

Reboot the Server, and re-start the backup from the Local Backup / Agent screen on the Administration level web interface.
